iPhone has sent random text messages to various contacts, made calls and browsed websites

On three occasions my iPhone has sent random text messages to various contacts, made calls and browsed web sites. The first time this happened I was advised by Apple to change all passwords and build up a completely new handset. This I did but in November it happened again so this time I changed all passwords again, I factory reset the phone and manually built up the phone config. Now exactly one month later it happened again. Have reset the phone, passwords again and limiting apps on the phone. I am running the latest IoS and have Norton 360 with VPN enabled. To stop other people being impacted I now turn airplane mode on when not with the phone which kinda defeats the point of having the phone in the first place. What I found on the second occasion that the phone tried calling/texting etc even in airplane mode so there must be some malware on the device. Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated!

FIRST: Dump Norton. It doesn’t do anything useful except enrich Norton.

This might be ghost touch, where the screen responds as if it had been touched. If it only happens when plugged in, you need a new cable. If it happens other times your screen digitizer has failed; contact Apple to get it replaced→iPhone Screen Repair & Replacement - Official Apple Support

There is no malware that can cause those symptoms; actually there is no malware that can infect an iPhone that has the latest updates (18.2 currently).

Yet another possibility is “butt dialing” if you carry your phone in your pocket with the screen against your body (even through clothes).

Thanks for the response. I should add this has happened on two different handsets. I replaced my original iPhone when this first happened and it is happening again on the second. When it happens the phone not on my person and in two cases cable connected and the other not. On all occasions the phone is in screen lock so I don't understand how the screen digitiser could be involved.
