iPhone X - Attempted data recovery failed

I am trying to gain access to my old iPhone X again. After failing to input the correct PIN too many times the iPhone deactivated. I thought, while I was locked out of the phone, I would update it via iTunes and put it into recovery mode and selected the update option on my PC. It updated the phone to iOS 16.7.

Now my iPhone is stuck on attempting data recovery and it fails over and over again. I've tried force restarting it and doing the update through iTunes again but to no avail.

Factory resetting the phone is not an option for me since there is important data on it.

After updating the iPhone it locks me out for an hour before it prompts me to attempt data recovery. Is it possible that during that hour the connection to the PC gets cut? Is being plugged into iTunes important for it to be successful?

Is there any way for me to repair this? It could be possible that the storage capacity might me an issue, since I think it was quite full when I stopped using it. Is there maybe a way to undo the update through iTunes or something?

Please help me if you can!

When forgetting the Passcode, the only way to gain access is by wiping the device. There is no other option to reset the Passcode without the data being erased. All data is recoverable as long as you had a backup either from iCloud or a computer before the Passcode had been forgotten.

Unfortunately, not the help that you are looking for, but you lost access to the data on the phone when the phone became unavailable after too many incorrect passcode attempts.

Your only option at this point would be to perform a factory reset to erase the phone and then restore the data from your most recent backup on iCloud or a computer.
