Help using assistive touch features with eye tracking

I’m moving to an iPad-based device, using eye tracking and assistive touch. There are some actions I know how to do with fingers but can’t figure out with eye tracking. Can you help?

  1. How do I move the assistive touch button?
  2. I know how to hold and drag (AT custom menu) but how do you indicate that you’re done dragging? For instance, when selecting text and you’ve moved the text selection thing to where you want it
  3. Change volume. I can access control center, but how do I then adjust volume using eye tracking?
  4. How do I move cursor to specific place in text (like long press space bar does)?
  5. How do I close an app? We tried a custom swipe up but no go

Thank you,

Aram

Hi Aram,

Re: Help using assistive touch features with eye tracking

Thank you kindly for your well thought out, and detailed request to the Community.

An no expert in this area, yet your request certainly deserves some response,

Fortunately, Apple Support has an article online (link below) that explains the various settings:

  • Eg: seems the "Snap to Item" feature may be useful:  You can have the Eye Tracking pointer automatically move to the item on the screen that’s closest to where you’re looking..

See how to: Control iPad with the movement of your eyes - Apple Support

And ... If you haven't already viewed it (or perhaps try re-viewing the settings info.):

Apple Support's Video: "Set up and Use Eye-Tracking" may be helpful

For more support with the eye-tracking feature:

You may want to contact Apple's Accessibility Support Team:

See: How to contact Apple for accessibility support - Apple Support

or

via Apple's Accessibility Support Website

(NB: You can "Get Support" (online chat / phone / email etc.) from the link at the bottom of their website:) : Accessibility Support - Official Apple Support

Those who are using the feature often may want to contribute feedback to Apple. This expert feedback can help those working on the software behind-the-scenes. They will likely not reply, yet future updates may address any issues, bugs, or suggestions for improvement, etc.

You can email the Accessibility team: accessibility@apple.com

All the best :-)
