Calibration ICC profile breaks HDR

Currently running Ventura 13.7.2 (22H313) on my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max.

I have calibrated displays before, often for work (since I work with tv/film), and have no issues using the DisplayCal and create a profile to install into the monitor I am using.

For the MacBook Pro internal screen though, and monitors connected directly using the HDMI/USB-C I need to load the ICC profile through MacOS.

However this breaks the HDR functions, on both internal and external screens.

I did troubleshooting to isolate this. I even ended up on the Apple Support hotline just to try to get an answer.

If an ICC profile gets loaded in, the colours end up looking very wrong. HDR refuses to trigger in "HDR Video mode", and when I use the loaded ICC profile, HDR footage (from YouTube, or locally) just show up as black.

If I restore to the XDR profile, HDR is ONLY triggered if I do not hover my mouse over the video.

So basically, if I do ANY calibration through software, or load a custom ICC profile, the monitor stops showing HDR.

I am about to buy a version of calibrite as well, just to isolate that is isn't the software. But regardless, ICC profiles should be allowed to be loaded.
