Cannot Get Mail - Network Error (POSIX 61)

I have the same problem, have upgraded to iso 18.2 and still have the problem. Had Apple support on the phone and contacted my email server provider, no resolutions. I have fought this for the last 2 weeks!!!!

Update: I managed to resolve it by disabling VPN.

I had this exact problem! BUT I remembered that I installed a VPN app the night before it started, turning it off did not work but uninstalling it DID! Hope this helps someone.

I tried the disabling of the VPN with no success. I even tried resetting my network connection, as advised by Apple support. I am so frustrated with this Apple screwup. I have been up until 3am several nights trying to figure this out.

I have this exact same problem with my Yahoo mail account. This has worked flawlessly for literally decades.

I struggled with this endlessly. It got resolved when I deleted the VPN app

Go to your settings

Type VPN in your search bar

Select and delete the VPN that stay connected

it works for me I got all my emails back.

It is strange that I am receiving incoming mail (but yet it gives me that error message that I am NOT connected to the imap incoming server) and it only populates some of my folders and when it does, it takes a long time...runs very slow. Also, when I make changes on the iPhone, it does NOT sync up with the ISP mail server. My MS computer's Outlook mail is running fine...which tells me that the Mediacom setting I am using for the iPhone are correct.

I had this Same issue until I signed into iCloud on My PC and selected Mail it prompted up some stuff and once I made My Choice, I Forced closed My Mail app and then reopened it and the Error was Gone

I have had this problem since coming to Florida for winters beginning 2 years ago. I have never had VPN enabled. I am with Bell Canada mail. When on a PW protected WiFi I get the POSIX 61 error and need to shut WiFi to get email. When on a public network I don’t need to shut wifi and all works. When I return to Canada the error disappears. I do not get the error with Hotmail in Florida. Only the Bell mail accounts.

This happened well before IOS 18.2. I wish there were a solution.

I have no VPN. When I do that it says VPN not connected. If there is one built in to the modem in the building where I rent for the winter, then I guess there is no fix. ( I even tried it in someone else’s apartment in the building). There is no issue on the general wi-fi in the lobby, which is not password protected.

I was having the exact same issue with my AOL email accounts. I noticed it was because I was connected to the VPN. If I disconect the VPN, the email starts working again.
