Blocked phone numbers leaving voicemails on iPhone

What’s with Apple allowing blocked phone numbers to be able to leave a voicemail? Blocked should be blocked- totally. My landline blocked numbers no longer ring or are able to leave messages.

That's not how it works... when you block a caller on the phone, all the phone can do is reject the call when it comes it. It then reverts to your carrier's system as if it were not answered. Your carrier then transfers it to voicemail.

If you want to prevent them from leaving voicemail, it would have to be blocked at the carrier level. Some carriers offer that service. Contact yours and ask if it really bothers you.
