Try this later on. If you are connected to a public LAN, then you may be limited to network usage.

I keep getting an error message when trying to do the internet recovery. I’ve tried restarting it completely and starting the process over through internet recovery and I continue to get the same message."

Reinstalling the macOS:

Looking on the top-right corner of your screen, see if you can connect to your Wi-Fi network. You are unable to connect to Apple's server. As it reads: "The recovery server could not be contacted."

Which Restore method are you using?

Command (⌘)-R

Install the latest macOS that was installed on your Mac.

Option-⌘-R

Upgrade to the latest macOS compatible with your Mac.

Shift-Option-⌘-R

Install the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available.

It is a known issue....unfortunately Apple doesn't care to keep things working. See Fix #3 in the following article:
