PhonePe not working on my iPhone 7

PhonePe (“phone pay”) is a payment app that is popular in India.

The OP has an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus which cannot be updated to iOS 16 or later, and is apparently trying to make or receive UPI payments using the PhonePe app. This isn’t going to work - even if PhonePe can carry out some NON-UPI transactions on an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, the OP will not be able to carry out UPI ones.

This is because the people who make the rules for the UPI payment system have apparently decided that all UPI payments on iPhones must take place on iOS 17 or higher. They are apparently willing to abandon support for older phones like the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus that cannot meet this requirement.

All apps that handle UPI payments must abide by the rules that National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) and the banks make, so switching from PhonePe to another UPI app will not solve the problem.

if the OP wants to make or receive UPI payments on a phone, their only option is to get a phone that meets the UPI system requirements.

There will be no software update to iOS 16 - let alone iOS 17 or 18 - for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

Those phones originally shipped with iOS 10 when Apple released them in September 2016, more than eight years ago. They got five major version updates, but for them, iOS 15 is the end of the line.
