Increasing keypad size on iPhone for tremor or disability

My husband has a severe tremor. Many other people have a tremor or disability that makes it hard to hit the keys on the phone keyboard, or see them properly, because they are small.

I’m looking for ways for him to find it less frustrating to use his iphone (preferably without this recent highly irritating black typing band showing up).

I’d like to be able to increase the size of the typing keys as an option. (***This is a seperate issue from reading the typing***). People with a tremor or other disabilities are often not accurate when trying to click on small keys (though they may be able to read normal size type).

I realise there are options to dictate, but he doesn’t want to do that, or can’t do that in most circumstances.

I know he can change settings so the device will ignore multiple taps.

But a very big part of this issue is being able to hit the correct key to start with. I find that a problem, and I don’t even have a tremor.

❓Does anyone have suggestions about how to increase the size of the keys (to type) on the iphone?❓

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a default option for this, even though there may be some third-party apps that can install larger keyboards on your device. If you want to see this as a built-in accessibility option in the future, submit a feature request on the iPhone feedback page.

Meanwhile, if you didn’t already, you can turn on AssistiveTouch in Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch. Some of the features in the AssistiveTouch menu may help. You can also turn on Touch Accommodations in Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Touch Accommodations. If none of these work for him, he can always just use Dictation.

If you choose to submit feedback, I’m sure Apple will consider your suggestion. They value Accessibility and always seem to be introducing new ways to make their devices more and more accessible to everyone.

I hope this helps!
