how do I find original file from an alias
Since latest Mac OS (Sequoia) several of my desktop folders have become an alias "unable to find original file." How do I find the origin of the alias?
iMac 24″, macOS 15.2

I finally discovered the problem. Sequoia didn't load up my Dropbox files (which is where many of these folders were located). Once I had reloaded and signed into Dropbox I could then find the originals. I discovered this solution thanks to the replies I received here. Many thanks guys.

When you select an alias and press command+i, or choose "Get Info" from the Finder File Menu, the location of the Original will be listed in the Get Info window. If the file is no longer there. it is gone or has been moved.
Select the alias and press command +I. However, it sounds like the original folders are gone.
Yes they have. There's just an empty file icon.
There's only one "guy" but you're welcome. :)
