iphone15 no longer makes audible sound when receiving new emails

My iphone15 used to make audible sounds when receiving new emails. Setting checked and all appears still set properly to make selected sound upon new email. Now does not receive emails when sleeping but only when unlocked and awake. Sometimes upon unlocking selected sound is played but not always. No Do not disturb or focus settings active.

Please advise as everything else works properly - texts, phone, all other notifications

I'm sorry I wasn't able to help you more. But your idea to visit the Genius Bar at your Apple Store is the next best course of action.

Thanks for your suggestions. Since it was working and all the proper settings are still set the way they were when it was working, I tried/verified many steps in the URL you sent. Sadly, I still get sporadic audible noises - seems only when I manually unlock the phone, open mail, and manually refresh. I did a full reset of the phone but that did not change the situation. I set, unset, and reset the notification settings and still nothing

I guess I will take it to an Apple Store and ask if they can find out what is going on,

No I do not. I only have a MacBook and the iPhone spring my apple id
