How-to: Photos to Smart TV screensaver

I think this seems like a basic how-to but I cannot brain-link the solution for my Sony TV.

I simply want to display a series of family photos when people visit our home.

Thx in advance! 👍

It would depend on the capabilities of the specific model of your TV. For my Sony XBR-55A9G, I would have to store the photos on a USB storage device (formatted as FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, or NTFS), then plug it into the USB port on the TV and select that device in the Media Player app on the TV. The online manual for my TV says nothing about being able to display photos as part of a screen saver, only that app.

Your Sony smart TV may have different capabilities and methods.

Alternatively, I could use the Apple TV that is connected to that Sony TV to display some of my photos stored in iCloud Photos, but you didn't mention having an Apple TV box.

The "UR3" designation seems to include a wide variety of Sony models and systems, which may have different capabilities and manuals to describe them.

Somewhere in the Settings menu there ought to be a page with a more specific model number string like XBR-65X900H or KD-55A80J. That might help more. According to online help pages, it ought to be on a page with the serial number.

Good info, thank you!

This is the info I pulled from my settings menu:

Sony Model: Bravia 4K UR3

The usb may be an idea but it’s simply hard to believe that there wouldn’t be a display selection option within the screensaver menu. Hmm.

I’m Apple based and on my previous Samsung I had the option to source and set a folder as my image selection choices.

There are likely third party apps but that always seems like a clunky end around to me. But whatever it takes I guess.
