why won't system settings open on my apple mac air?
data and privacy sign is stuck on my screen and I can't open system settings. how can I fix this?

Press option-command-escape to invoke the Force Quit window. Then select System Settings and click Force Quit.
If that doesn't work, then reboot the computer. If need be, press and hold the power button until the computer shuts off, then restart normally.
