High Sierra OS MacBook Pro has Intermittant folders disappearing from Notes Application

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro running High Sierra OS. If someone would have told me this laptop would have made it 13 years when I purchased it, I would have thought them crazy.

Anyways, my Notes application on my MacBook Pro has an issue where some folders (not all) in the Notes application are intermittently disappearing from appearing in the Notes application on the MacBook Pro. Without any reason understood by me, the missing folders may appear at times, while at other times they are gone. At all times I can access these "missing" folders on my iPhone or the web based iCloud url.

What have I tried to date without an change?

  • Remove notes.plist from user library and reboot. No change. (Notes on macOS not showing content - Apple Community)
  • Remove notes.plist from system library and reboot. No change.
  • Remove notes .plist from ~/library/preferences and reboot. No change.
  • In the MacBook Pro Systems Preferences, uncheck the use of "Notes" from the iCloud and reboot. Return to System Preferences after reboot and Select "Notes" from the iCloud. No change.

Any suggestions or anyone else have this issue?

If a simple reboot of your Mac doesn’t fix things, see if the problem still happens in safe mode.

You might also try reinstalling macOS.

Reinstalling macOS does not erase your user data.  The only time that should happen is if you choose to delete, erase, format or partition your startup drive. How to reinstall macOS

If you simply select Reinstall macOS from the macOS Utilities window, the OS will be reinstalled on top of the current installation, thereby refreshing the macOS and replacing any corrupt or missing system files. That is assuming that the drive device and volumes are healthy.
