Family Sharing - No Option?

I have never set up Family Sharing before, but we're giving our teenager a new phone (iPhone 15) and would like to do so. However, all instructions say to go to Settings > my name > Family to set it up. The screenshots I've seen show "Setup" next to Family. Mine (iPhone 16 Pro) does not. When I click Family, it only shows an option to click for Location Sharing and nothing at all to do with setting up a Family account or adding members.


What am I doing wrong? Is there something I need to reset somewhere that's not obvious? Please help!

  • Is it possible your Apple ID is already being used in a Family Sharing group?
  • Are you updated to the latest iOS version?


A couple of troubleshooting steps are:

  • Restart you phone
  • Turn off Screen Time Restrictions at Settings > Screen Time, and scroll to the bottom to Turn Off Screen Time.
