iPhone 16 Pro Max Flickering Display

Hello everyone, I'm coming from an iPhone 13PM (1TB) to iPhone 16 PM (1TB). I have noticed a lot of issues with it and mainly with the display. There are rare moments were vertical lines randomly showing on my screen. I did mostly everything to resolve it. I'm not using any beta version, I have restarted the phone (even shutting it down), I did reset and actually came to the point to erase all contents and settings. I downloaded backups from iCloud instead of pairing it to my old phone which none of these helped the issue. I went to the Apple Store and discussed the issue, unfortunately they have seen nothing but a perfectly unit but what they've done and recommended is to erase everything and start all over again (which can be annoying to download my stuff again). I have decided to call Apple about the issue and 1 week later I got my new replacement unit. Now that iOS 18.2 is out I have updated it, and guess what the flickering still shows. I kind of given up where I have exhausted all the possible ways to stop it but there is nothing I can do. Can someone help me fix the issue?

Do you think this is a 1) Hardware issue 2) Software issue 3) My iCloud backup or 4) All of the above? I have never had this issue on my iPhone 13 PM.

I am paying $1,972 (finance) in total for having the iPhone 16 PM 1TB with Theft and Loss protection.

As annoying as it might be, try setting up your iPhone 16 Pro Max as a completely new device without restoring from iCloud Backup. This can help determine if the issue is with your backup.

Here's what may work for you on your iPhone 16 Pro Max:

1️⃣ Backup on iCloud/iTunes

2️⃣ Log out of Apple ID

3️⃣ Erase (Keep eSIM Data)

❌ DO NOT restore from backups! Set up as new iPhone. Wait 2-3 days - no issue! That Indicates...

✅ No hardware/ iOS issue

Now...

📦 Restore data manually/gradually

Try transferring the data manually, one by one. After each transfer, pause and observe to see if any issues arise. If everything runs smoothly, proceed to the next step.

  1. If your old iPhone had iCloud enabled Optimised storage enabled then please do the same on the new device too. Check if you have enough iCloud Storage if you are using another Apple ID.
  2. Messages, Media, Voice Memo, Keychain --> Turn on Messages in iCloudiCloud Photos, Voice Memo, Keychain, and your content is automatically stored in iCloud and is available on all devices that use the same Apple ID including iCloud Drive
  3. Contacts --> Contacts are not stored on an iPhone nor on SIM, they are synced to  Google, iCloud, AOL, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo or any Other. Use the email account that is in your old iPhone.
  4. Notes, Reminders, Calendars --> You may sync all these from any of the email accounts that you have on your old iPhone. they can be synced using  Google, iCloud, AOL, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo or any Other.
  5. Any Specific Files --> Upload to Cloud Drives (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, Flickr, box, AmazonDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud and Use Files app on your new iPhone too.
  6. Apps & Settings --> In any way they have to be redownloaded using the App Store. Even you had used any of the 3 processes mentioned earlier. Apart from the Apps following will also not get transferred.
    1. Content from the iTunes and App Stores or PDFs downloaded directly to Apple Books
    2. Content synced from iTunes, like imported MP3s or CDs, videos, books, and photos
    3. Data already stored in iCloud, like iCloud Photos, iMessages, and text (SMS) and multimedia (MMS) messages
    4. Face ID or Touch ID settings
    5. Apple Pay information and settings
    6. Apple Mail data
    7. Apple Music
  7. WhatsApp --> Take a backup of chats and media from within the WhatsApp App. Use the same Phone number as that of your earlier iPhone and activate the account in the new iPhone too. That's it. --> Transfer Whatsapp chat History from Andro… - Apple Community
  8. Shazam Account --> Access your Shazams on all your devices or online - Apple ...

Hi SravanKrA, thank you so much for taking time and giving me these steps to follow. I really appreciate it. I have been to the Apple Store and spoke with their genius bar and run a diagnostic test and they can't seem to find a problem with the unit or even the software. It seems like they have never had this problem before.

Do you think I can still download my backups even if I set it up as a new phone without using my backups?
