Home Kit & Nanoleaf

I specifically purchased home pod minis for the bulbs pretty much. I want to create automations to go from regular light to an evening scene. Apple Support could not help. If I follow Apples directions to a T it will not fulfill the reason many of us buy them. If I knew I had to pick from 4 prepaid regular light scenes I would not have wasted my money. What I see in the adds is not possible for me or the last Apple rep I spoke to. I simply want the bulb to change to a preselected color at a certain time. I can manually adjust the color, but there are no automations that allow for this and it work. This should be so simple but it’s not. I’m not looking to walk around the house and change the colors. If Apple can’t help can one of you? Otherwise I have two HomePod minis going back to Apple. I’ve followed every instruction and fed screenshots to the agent at their request. It turned into well looks like you’re getting close. The hang up is there is no step where I tell the bulb to switch to the color I chose.

Step 6 below is likely where you want to focus, but I'll provide the full instructions as well. I don't think NanoLeaf sells a non-RGB bulb, but if you have one then you cannot choose the color.

  1. Add your bulb to the Home app.
  2. Create an automation in the Home app using the "A Time of Day Occurs" event.
  3. Set the time of day you want on the day and the frequency (which days do you want the automation to run). You can also configure conditions for when this automation runs based on who is or isn't home, but note this also requires everyone in your home to allow Home to use precise location all the time for the best experience.
  4. Tap Next then select your bulb.
  5. Tap Next then tap on your bulb.
  6. Select the color picker at the bottom with the rainbow circle around it. Adjust the bulb to the color and brightness you want. There also may be an option for adaptive lighting if you want, which will adjust the color temperature throughout the day (warm in the morning and evening, cold during the day)
  7. You can test the automation from this screen as well.
  8. Tap Done.
