Apple News not working properly

Ever since the upgrade to iOS 18, Apple News has been very flaky on both my iPhone 13 Plus and my iPad Pro. It barely loads on my iPad. Sometimes I’ll just get headlines but no media or graphics, other times I’ll get the first few stories but, as I scroll down, just get a spinner that never stops. If I try to open a story, I’ll typically get “Apple News is not connected to the Internet” even though everything else on my devices is working fine, even Facebook. I’ve tried uninstalling Apple News using the tips on the support board, but it is so flaky, I’ve pretty much given up on being able to use it. I’m now running iOS 18.1.1, but nothing has changed since the update to 18. I gave up my Apple News+ subscription because I couldn’t access anything. What the heck?
