iPad storage not going down after deleting Google Drive data

I've recently bought an iPad Air M2 11-inch iPad with 128GB of storage. After transferring my data from my phone I realized that about 83GB was already used up. I saw that google drive was using about 46GB of storage so I decided to delete a lot of data and documents in google drive. After I did so, I checked now much storage was cleared up but only about 2GB was cleared. I've tried looking for answers on why my iPad storage was still so high despite deleting almost all documents and data on google drive but I haven't been able to find an answer.

  1. Delete the app from the iPad
  2. Restart the iPad
  3. Reinstall the app from the app store
  4. Log back into your Google account

I do not allow any Google apps on my devices and therefore can't help in terms of settings that may determine what is synced and what is not in the Google Drive app. It sounds like everything in your Google cloud storage is also going to sync locally but there may be settings to determine that.
