Apple Account Falsely Deactivated

After returning from a cruise in Miami Florida(12/29/2024), I went back on my cellular device and sent text messages for personal and business use. I sent out a lot of text messages and I believe that this triggered Apple to flag my account as spam and without any explanation or notice, they terminated my Apple account instantaneously. By doing this not only has this caused an extreme inconvenience to me for my business and personal life, But I’ve also now lost the rights to music media and other apps that I purchased throughout the span of 14 years while using Apple products. Upon looking in their terms and conditions, it is to my understanding that Apple must give the consumer 30 days notice from the time of termination, unless the terms of service is broken, which I do not believe I have broken the terms of service.

I tried to Appeal the decision a few times and the automated system declined each one of them. I then contacted Apple support on 12/30/2024 I spoke with Apple support about the issue and they could not tell me why my account was made inactive. I was informed that the decision/action that terminated my account is automated and the only thing they can see is that I violated some unknown portion of their terms of service and there’s nothing else they could do citing the information as being private/sensitive. The case was escalated to higher ups twice and they told me the same thing and informed me my only option was to create a new account start from scratch and lose all of my past purchased items, Photos, videos, and other data stored in Apple’s iCloud. Also, as a result of this, I cannot text any other iPhones and other features No longer work, such as Find My iPhone. This has caused communication issues with my family. Keep in mind I pay Verizon for my cell phone plan, not Apple. They should have no say on who I can text (excluding iMessage).

Seeing as my only option is to create a new account, I attempted to do so, but I can’t log out of my current account, because it asks for a password and every time I enter it, Apple says my account is inactive. Overall, I believe Apple has far too much power when it comes to what can be done with their device when the Internet plan, is paid for separately through another provider, which is Verizon in my case. Not to mention, these companies provide data storage plans (in Apple’s case it is known as ICloud), promising a safe haven for all of your photos, documents, videos, etc., when in actuality, they will take it all away, without notice, at their discretion with no explanation as to why.

As a solution, I obviously would like to see my account reinstated, however, on top of that I believe these large tech companies, such as Apple need to be held responsible for their actions, and should be limited to what power they hold over an individuals data/functions of their devices.

When trying to login to my Apple account on my phone, it states, “ verification failed- an unknown error occurred.” When trying to login to my Apple account on my Mac, it states, “ Enter the email or phone number and password for your Apple account.” When requesting access to my account on Mac, it states, “ this account is locked. This account is locked and can’t be used.”

Both of the support agent specialist I spoke with told me that I need to request a, removal of activation lock. This doesn’t sound right to me. I still have access to my phone and I would imagine this is only necessary if I’m completely locked out of the phone. The first Support agent assured me by doing this, I would not lose any of my data on my phone while looking into this it looks like I most certainly would. I backed up all my photos and videos to my laptop, and also did a backup of my entire phone, but I’m still uncertain on a few things.

One of my concerns is whether or not the entire back up of my phone would not be restorable onto my factory reset phone, logged in with a new iCloud account. My other concern is the fact my Mac is also logged in with the same iCloud account, which of course is also in the same limbo I’m dealing with on my phone. When removing the activation lock on my phone, will this also completely wipe the data on my Mac? This would be catastrophic since the Mac is where my phone back up would be stored.

If somebody else has gone through this situation, guidance would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Otherwise, if somebody could confirm that Apple‘s suggestion to request the removal of activation lock is in fact, the only solution for my issue that would also be greatly appreciated! Of course, the preferred solution would be the recovery of my Apple ID. I have yet to go to the Apple Store for help, but I plan on doing so. Unfortunately, I’m guessing they are going to be of no help to me but, maybe I’m wrong.

First, nobody on this forum works for Apple and while some people from Apple may read it, it is not the people you want. According to various forum posts, Apple may permanently lock accounts for various reasons (very broadly outlined in section VII-B of Legal - iCloud - Apple ). And no, they won't tell you why. That may be the case here. You, or somebody who has managed to get access to your account, are likely doing something Apple is detecting as account misuse. You will have to see if your activities could be construed—rightly or wrongly—as meeting any of Apple's conditions in the support article. You will need to create a new account and stop doing things the way you have been that may have caused the other account to be locked.

In this situation you can still use your equipment with a new account. Apple can completely reset a device if a person can provide sufficient evidence of valid ownership. Check the requirements and steps at: Activation Lock support request - https://al-support.apple.com/#/additional-support Apple says, "Proof of ownership documentation is required," but does not detail what currently constitutes proof other than it “must include the product serial number, IMEI or MEID.” Apple may typically require the original receipt* issued by Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller. If Apple resets the device this will give you access to the device but won't restore access to the account used to lock it. There is nothing that can be done to expedite an Activation Lock request.

Incidentally, the 30 day warning applies to accounts being deleted because they are not being used (see the link about terms).

You are welcome to go to a store but I suspect they have no power to reinstate accounts.
