iCloud email and apple mail posix 60 error

I can no longer receive my icloud email in the Apple mail app. Receive a message saying: “The connection to the server failed. Network error (POSIX 60)”.

The message appears on both my iPad and iPhone. Email worked last worked on 29 December 2024. Both devices are running IOS 18 and were running it before the problem happened.

As a result I have no access to emails on my xxxx.xxx@mac.com account.

A fix (preferably) or failing that a workaround would be gratefully received. I have already tried to configure the Mac.com email in gmail and outlook apps.
