Backup to PC using Apple Devices app for Windows

Hi,

What exactly does the 'Apple Devices' app for Windows backup when I select 'Backup all of the data on your iPhone to this computer'?

Does it backup/sync ALL data including photos, songs, calendar, notes, message etc..?

When I Restore the iPhone does it restore the iPhone to how it was at last backup?

So what I'm asking, is 'Apple Devices' app like iTunes used to be?

No. Anything that is already synced to iCloud, including calendar and notes is not included in the backup. But neither did iTunes.

Photos are included if you are not using the iCloud Photos Option. Songs are never included in the backup. They are either synced from the computer after the restore is complete or downloaded from your purchases or Apple Music.

Ok. I have never used iCloud for Backup. I have local servers and I used iTunes to backup to them. So I assume Apple Devices does the same thing. Backs up everything on my iPhone direct to my local disks when I select 'Backup all of the data on your iPhone to this computer'?

It backs up most things. As explained previously, things already synced to iCloud( different or a backup to iCloud) are not included in the backup on the computer.

Please read the link I provided above to see what isn’t included in the backup.
