CarPlay no longer working in my Mazda CX5

I recently purchased a used car a Mazda CX5 2019 model and I was able to skip songs and see the song names on the screen however this is no longer working. I have tried updating my phone (I have an iPhone 16 pro max), resetting the display and deleting my music apps, is anyone having this problem and tell me how I can fix this.

How do I fix wired CarPlay not working on iPhone 16 with iOS 18.5? Just got the iphone 16 and my wired carplay isn’t working. My phone will charge, but it’s not connecting to play music. Carplay worked fine with my iphone 13 pro max; I don’t remember what its IOS version was, but my iphone 16 is running IOS 18.5. Because my car’s touchscreen doesn’t work anymore, wired carplay is the only way I can play music in my car so this is really upsetting. Considering returning the 16 and keeping my 13 pro max at this point. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

carplay starts on home screen and not music since ios 18.1 on iphone 15 plus The day of ios 18.1 my carplay now starts on home screen where all the tiles are and may also start on apple maps with music and calendar. This is a issue because Maps uses data if the screen is on maps. My radio worked fine before this update. I have tried to unlink and remove the radio and the iPhone from the radio also forget network settings, removed music app from iPhone and reinstall. Reset the radio. I use the Shortcut app to start my music to play automatically which still works but on the wrong screen. I had no issues with ios 18 at all. Reddit has a lot of people who have the same issues.
