Playing High Res Lossless Music on MacBook Air (M2, 2022)

I am currently using a MacBook Air (M2, 2022). When I connect the Fiio KA5 DAC to my Macbook and play a piece of music from Apple Music that is reflected as High Res Lossless, I noticed that the sampling rate shown on the Fiio KA5 is "PCM 44.1kHz". However when I connect the same Fiio KA5 to my iPhone 14 and play the same piece of music, the sampling rate shown on the Fiio KA5 is "PCM 192kHz". Why is the MacBook Air unable to play the music at higher resolution?

I tried downloading the music and play the downloaded version but the sampling rate is still showing as "PCM 44.1kHz".

Would appreciate any advice on this peculiarity.

MacBook Air, macOS 12.7
