Noto Nastaliq font for Urdu

I have used Noto Nastaliq font for years from apple system font. Now when I have a new phone. 16 pro, I didn’t expect a big change of not being able to type in this font any longer.

I thought I could just download it again but in the system fonts, it is not even showing the button to download.

What happened to this font and more importantly how can I get it back?

I type in Urdu quite often as I am a poet. This is very important for me. Can someone guide me please.

If you have Urdu at the top of your preferred languages list (after the iphone interface language), the Urdu keyboard should automatically use the built in Nastaliq font. Does that work for you?

If you want to add another Nastaliq font, you can do this with an app like Anyfont. Such user added fonts can only be used in apps which have a font menu, like Pages, and some of those may still not accept them, you can only tell by testing.

Let us know if this fixes your problem.

OMG Tom. Thank you so much. I just checked again and another language was on top of Urdu. I just changed the priority order and I got my Nastaliq font back. Thank you sooooooo much. May 2025 be a very special year for you and you get all the good stuff you want in this year. You made my 2025 a lot more pleasant just now. 🙏👏
