What to do when iPod Touch fails to enter DFU Mode?

Wanted to restore a 4th Gen iPod touch and I keep getting the same error "This iPod was previously in DFU mode, but restarted and is no longer in DFU mode. To restore this iPod from DFU mode, disconnect it and place it in DFU mode again." Seems like the only solution that worked for other people is to recover it via an old MacBook, but I only got a new version and it doest not work. Any new suggestions? Thanks.
