Apple Notes on IOS 18 - HUGE scan file sizes

I scan all of my documents and receipts using Apple notes and have for years. Now with the new IOS update, I tried to scan a tax document and it was 35MB!!! I need to send multiple legal documents and tax documents and work documents and Notes has always been my go-to. What can I do to resolve this problem within the Notes app? I don't want to have to jump through several extra hurdles to reduce the file size.

I am now using IOS 18.1.1 on an iPhone 15 pro max.

Notes app doesn't export multiple scans as a multi page PDF I scanned multi-page documents using the Notes app in my Iphone. When I go to the Notes app on my Mac (synced through icloud, only the first page is there. The Notes app used to upload multi-page scanned documents, which I could then export as PDFs. Scanning with Notes App - Files too large I have used the scanning option on the notes app for years now. It’s become increasingly challenging as when I scan documents they are too large, often way over 10-20mb resulting in not being able to send as email attachments. My most recent PDF was only 7 pages. Feel like I didn’t have this issue before, I didn’t have to scan in B&W, scan options/file type etc cannot be changed before scanning, only B&W options can be changed. And due to the types of files I scan NDIS related it often needs to stay colour. Reducing file size afterwards doesn’t compress it down enough also, it’s limited in reduction size. I’m having to then upload it into my work account adobe app to compress it enough and it’s so much more time consuming and inconvenient and I don’t want personal items in my work account. Noticing this is a trend, apart from what I have read to scan in B&W format, does anyone else have any other fixes? AI answers haven’t been helpful either. Hoping Apple will see my comment and actually do something about the issues because it’s a fantastic function but during the updates I’m thinking something has changed. Thanks for reading.
