I am trying to create a child apple account on my iPad. I followed the steps provided on apple and got to the part where you create an email for the child. It then says to go to the email to confirm the addresss. How do I find this? When I tried to login at iCloud.com with the new kids email, it says that the email is not an actual email. Any ideas?

So to confirm, you are following these directions:

I suspect it’s the following choice that is causing trouble here: “Follow the onscreen instructions to finish setting up the account. You can use the child’s email address for their Apple Account, or their Game Center nickname.”
I’m assuming you didn’t choose an iCloud email address; you picked an email address hosted elsewhere, and that address needs to already exist. You’ll need to check the email at the address used, too.
If you did select an iCloud email address, then that shouldn’t prompt for a check until the account and email address are ready.
If you requested a new iCloud email address and not a third-party email provider email address, and got prompted for a verification code sent to that email address, contact Apple Support.
