How to adjust settings configured by a profile on MacBook Air?

I have tried all the recommended troubleshooting including;

  • Changing the content and privacy settings
  • ensuring there is no other profiles listed
  • restarting
  • updating software

It still will not let me adjust the settings and it has been months I'm out of ideas.

This begs the question, how did you acquire the MacBook?

Did you buy this MacBook used?

If this was a used computer when you got it, it seems that it was not properly prepared for a transfer of ownership.

There may be no way to remove the device management.

A new Apple MacBook doesn't display Device Management options unless/until it has been enrolled into some sort of management program, usually through an educational or job related entity and by their IT folks.

You posted that this has been going on for months. I recommend you contact whomever you purchased this from and ask them to remove the computer from the management program.

Thanks for all the help,

I bought the MacBook new from apple back in 2023. This particular setting worked and was able to be changed up until a couple months ago. I thought it had resulted from updating the software on my iPhone or the computer but no recent updates have solved the problem. My last resort would be a factory reset but I’m trying to avoid that.
