MacBook Pro 2019 13' 1440p monitor support at high refresh rates

I am interested in connecting my MacBook Pro 2019 13' to my QHD (2560x1440) Asus monitor via a USB-C to HDMI cord. I also have a display port cable that came with the monitor which I can get an adapter for once I know that my macbook supports the high refresh rate output at that resolution. The monitor can go upto 180 Hz. What display port version adapter+cable do I need for this? Is my macbook even capable of outputting this combo?

that appears to be a 2560 by 1440 display and High Dynamic Range (10 bits/color) with

I/O PORTS:

DisplayPort 1.4. x 1 (HBR3)

HDMI (v2.0). x 1

USB-C. x 1 (DP Alt Mode)

the last interface on that list is most interesting, because if you connect a USB-C cable that is capable of SuperSpeed PLUS or 10 G bits/sec or higher, and ONE meter or shorter, you don't need an adapter at all.

in addition, 2019 model Macs can also accept power from the display over that same USB-C interface to run and charge the Mac.

a DisplayPort (or DisplayPort over DP alt mode) connection tops out at about 200 Hz refresh rate.

if you insist on converting to HDMI 2.0, you get at most 100 Hz refresh rate before display quality must be compromised to fit in the bandwidth available.

That's very useful! Thank you for the info! When I try plugging in the usb-c charging cable that came with my macbook, the monitor doesnt even detect it. Not sure if its a faulty cable, a cable with not enough bandwith or some other issue. Defenitely gonna use the type-c interface if I can get it to work. What type-c cable do I need in order to have this work?
