Updating from an old operating system

I have a late 2015 Mac desktop and I can't seem to update to a new OS past Monterey 12.7.6. Without a newer version I can't update to the latest Microsoft 365 apps. Is it possible to get the newer OS on this computer?

YMMV but at work I used Word, and Excel (and PowerPoint in a more limited manner) with either MS Office or with LibreOffice and it worked OK for the same basic documents. At home I use only LibreOffice (the newest version and also the very old versions on my very old Macs work OK).

Do you have some special needs like macros or old muscle memory that really need the latest MS Office?
