Numbers on desktop items in macOS

there is a number next to everything on the computer. how do I get rid of these numbers

Turn off Overlay. System Settings > Accessibility > Motor > Voice Control. Or disable Voice Control.

Thank you. That fixed the problem. I don't know why anyone would want to have all these numbers on the page. Thanks again.

The number means there is another file with the same name on your system somewhere. macOS added the number to differentiate the two files. You can try to rename the file with the number to something else.
