New Voicemail not showing in app and unable to set up message (error 1034)

I can get voicemails through keypad 1.

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 18

That error means that the carrier’s voicemail server is not communicating with your iPhone. The two most common causes:


  • You must have Cellular Data turned on; voicemail cannot use Wi-Fi
  • Do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile.


If you haven’t, you can try restarting your iPhone.


Beyond these possibilities, contact your carrier.
