Have my Mac Create a Wifi network

Good day to all,

I would like to connect to a wifi network via a splash page and then create a wifi network from that network to share with my family. I don't see this option under sharing a network. Here is a screenshot of the options I have:

It appears apple will only allow you to share a network if you are using cellular on an iPhone and on a Mac if you are hard-wired to an internet connection.

Any solutions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Aleks

I don't believe that you can create a shared WiFi network when that interface is being used for the source network connection. I do believe that you could do what you intend if you have the ability to connect to the source network via Ethernet. Then you could use the WiFi interface to share to your family: Share the internet connection on Mac with other network users - Apple Support

there is only one set of radios in a Mac. you can't share it out as another network.

connect the base Mac with an Ethernet cable, and then you can share your INTERNET connection via Wi-Fi if that is your intent. The Mac will create a small Router in software to support this.

if you are doing this to limit internet time or simiiar reasons, Mac and iPhone already contain far better tools to do this.

Also, most Routers can drop the WiFI at a certain time of day. My sons lost Internet connection at 11:00 school nights, and if they needed more, they had to ask me for an extension. Our cell service is so bad, there was no competition from that. Today's phones have screen time limits that can be imposed in a similar way.

is your Router working off cable-TV cable? if so, the Router can be moved to any place on the cable-TV cable, it does not have to be in the cellar. That can make running ONE Ethernet cable MUCH simpler.

Thank you for the screenshot.

Sharing a Network Connection:

A. Slash Page:

Slash Page is a third-party application. You should probably contact them for ideas on this. It seems configurations would take a big role. So, if you want to create a network, then create one through your router as a guest network. Link: Contact Us! - program

B. HTML:

You could create a web page using HTML. It would take some effort to learn, but as an example of how to see it in blank Courier New font, create this Bookmark: How to: View a Web Page's HTML Code in Plain Text (Courier New) - User Tip

I can't understand the use for this. If the Author is in the same room as their family then why would they not just connect directly to the same network as the Author with their devices? Why would they ever need to connect to a network via the Author's Mac? The Author has the password, presumably, so unless the network is set up on a Mac address basis that excludes the family I don't understand why there would be a need.

Allow me to provide two reasons:

Instead of having to connect all devices to the network and re-enter the passwords for the network, I can connect one device and the other devices automatically connect to a pre-set network (my computer or my travel router).

Some travel destinations charge per device connected to the network. So, if a family is in a room, only once device can connect unless you pay for additional devices. The charges are exorbitant, often what you would pay for half of year of internet access at home. Charges are per day per device.

Some PC computers allow for this to be done, as do some Android cell phones. Less expensive devices that Mac products. It is possible if a company feels the need to provide additional useful features.

A use case example would be a hotel room. Instead of having to connect all devices to the network and re-enter the passwords for the network, I can connect one device and the other devices automatically connect to a pre-set network. Similar to what a travel router would do.

Some places charge for internet per device connected, even if it is a family staying in one room. This allows you stop share the connection as well.
