Where should MacHD volume be kept on Macbook Pro Sonoma 14?

Months ago the MacintoshHD volume somehow appeared on my Macbook desktop. It looks like a vulnerable place to be. Where should it be, and should I drag it there?

Thanks

The default location for the Macintosh HD icon is the top right corner of the desktop just as @kaz-k describes.

Depending on how you have the View options set for the Desktop, the icon may be positioned almost anywhere. The location of the icon has no particular vulnerability.

If you would prefer not to see the drive icon at all, go to Finder > Settings... > General tab and uncheck the Hard disks box under "Show these items on the desktop:"
