Simply wish to transfer all data to my Icloud account from an external drive.
I tried a movie test and (MP4) and it says JPEG only supported which doesn't make sense to me.
I didn't think it was be this difficult to drop videos/movies on the cloud - so I guess my question what is the most economical route to achieve my goal. Thank you
If you're uploading using a browser to iCloud.com you will not be able to upload all content types into photos.
You can sync your device to iCloud instead or use your external album as your photo library that syncs with iCloud.
File types not supported in icloud photos can be synced using iCloud Drive instead.

You can copy/paste into iCloud Drive to sync using your Mac. If you’re syncing photos, use the photos app to import your images and set up iCloud sync. Users with large photo libraries often keep their library on an external drive and sync to iCloud through Photos. You’ll, of course, want a second drive for your Time Machine backup.

Thank you - it seems that Icloud is really limited in the sense that I can't click and transfer all my goodies - I guess not fully understanding the ecosystem. My best route is then to purchase a 2nd drive - copy everything over and then update Icloud with my phone and then get in order. Seems odd to me but eh I thought I was losing my mind.
:) I'm not on a MAC, I just purchased an Ipad pro and have a Iphone 11.
Sorry should have stated. So all my videos and picture are on an external drive. Some pics videos on my phone are linked to the Icloud (synced) but wishing to organize better for future use to the family
