Automatic full-screen window resizing on Mac

Every time I minimize or maximize a window, it either goes full screen or makes the other open windows go full screen. I spend half of my time resizing windows. Is there are way to turn this off? All of my Tiling settings are already off.

An application can have many simultaneously open windows, and some may be in full screen, while others aren't.

The only way that minimizing one window causes other windows to go full screen is if they were already in full screen.

When you have a window in full screen, the green, yellow and red buttons are hidden. Push against the top edge of the screen and they appear. Click the green dot and the window gets out of full screen. You can do this for any other windows that you have in full screen but don't want to. Select some window that wasn't in full screen, to bring it forward. Does it go to full screen on its own?

Both. If I minimize Command+M, the remaining open window from the same app goes full screen.

If I pull a window up from the dock, all of the windows from that app go full screen too.

I do not see the issue as you describe in macOS Sequoia 15.2 if apps are not in Full screen.

If an app is in Full screen you are asking for issues w/ multiple windows and trying to minimize ...

I would change your work flow if there is a conflict.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test.  Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

***if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect the charging cable before booting to Safe Mode.

This will make it act as a wired keyboard and a successful Safe Boot mode.

unplug all non-essential  peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Don't use the minimize yellow button...and compare your results.

I would use the Heads Up Display (HUD): Command H —to hide a window and Command Tab to navigate apps

Mission Control is 4 finger swipe up for easy access
