Which US carriers offer micro-SIM compatible with iPhone 4?

I will be traveling to the US soon for about 10 days. I am from Canada and have an unlocked iPhone 4. Instead of paying the high roaming fees and long distance charges to use my Canadian cellular service provider while in the US, I would like to get a micro-SIM card from a US cellular service that will work with the iPhone 4 for phone calls and data. Other than AT&T, are there other companies that have micro-SIM cards that will work with the iPhone 4? Do they offer pay-as-you-go plans? Or would they require a contract?

There is only one carrier that supports the iPhone and that is AT&T. The only other major GSM carrier that comes anywhere close to AT&T in terms of network coverage and number of subscribers is T-Mobile, and T-Mobile's 3G network in the U.S. is not compatible with the iPhone. Not sure if T-Mobile provides a micro-SIM card regardless.

Most people don't realize a micro-SIM card is EXACTLY the same as any other SIM card, just smaller. All you do is cut the top part of a regular SIM off (be careful not to cut the metal area, or the SIM will not work) and put it in. Will work exactly the same. And there are a few GSM carriers compatible with iPhone (only two national ones). If your iPhone is unlocked you can use AT&T or T-Mobile (national carriers), theres also Simple Mobile (MVNO of T-Mobile, great prepaid unlimited rates) and a lot of other very small MVNO's. Please note that both T-Mobile and Simple Mobile will only get you EDGE data since they use the 1700MHz band.

This was extrordinarily helpful! i have been looking for quite a while for information about this. AT&T's refusal to have any kind of service for international travelers is mind-boggling stupid. I will check out these simple mobile folks!

Not from AT&T's perspective. Why should they offer you low cost local rates when they could otherwise get exorbitant roaming rates.
