Turn off 'Priority' on Mac mail

Maybe I'm missing something obvious here, but the Mac Mail 'Priority' feature is wildly incorrect. It doesn't do what Apple claim it to do. Instead of anything urgent or important, I'm getting things like:

  • Requests to review recent Amazon purchases
  • Amazon recommends....
  • Udemy courses that might be of interest

Meanwhile, Invitations to meetings are ignored!

I need to either turn it off - or gain access to the algorithm!

Any helpful ideas - or is it just me?

Thanks! Just to clarify for anyone else. On your Mac, go to the 'View" menu tab and untick 'show priority'

On an iPhone, go to the 3 dots in the top right and untick 'show priority' there

I agree it's annoying. Others have said how to turn it off (thank you!). I will note another annoyance, and the main reason I turned it off: Priority messages look like normal messages, but you cannot interact with them in the usual way. It seems needlessly confusing to me.

(FYI: you can also turn off the AI-based summaries in Mail's settings (on macOS at least) in the Viewing tab.)
