When I open Zoom on Mac Facetime opens.

Hi All,

I have a M4 Mac Mini - Sequoia 15.2.

When I open Zoom and start a meeting Facetime opens.

How do I stop facetime from opening?

I appreciate your thorough support Al !

I did contact apple support.

Initially, I thought there was some issue between FaceTime and Zoom. However, Apple Support said it's normal for FaceTime to open with Zoom and other video apps. The bigger issue was my webcam reached the end of its life since I was getting lines on video instead of actual video. So I bought a new camera and all is fine now.

Here are some things you can try if FaceTime opens when you open Zoom on your Mac:

Change default calling app
You can change the default calling app on your Mac by following these steps:

1. Open FaceTime
2. Click FaceTime in the menu bar
3. Select Preferences
4. Click the Settings tab
5. Click the drop-down menu next to Default for calls
6. Select the app you want to use as your default calling app

Turn off FaceTime
You can turn off FaceTime by following these steps:

1. Open FaceTime
2. Click FaceTime in the Menu bar
3. Click Turn off FaceTime

Turn off FaceTime notifications
You can turn off all notifications from FaceTime by following these steps:

1. Click FaceTime on the right
2. Turn off Allow notifications

Check your network connection
If you're having trouble connecting to Zoom, you can try checking your network connection and reinstalling the application
Grant permission to applications
