I created a Google account to get access to Google Docs . I wasn't trying to make a gmail address but I guess I have one .
When I search for Google in settings & tap a result I'm taken to the " add internet account " .
Is it mandatory that I do so ? I wasn't planning on using the gmail .

Your Gmail address is your login to your Google account if you're just signing up as an individual. (My university uses Google services so I log into my university Google account with my .edu address.)
You don't have to add your Google account in Settings unless you want to. Unless you're using Gmail or Google Calendar, I don't see why you'd need to. Google offers apps: Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides and Google Drive. You can use them to create and edit documents.

👌 Okay , I'll try it out . I'm not adding the account in settings if it works without doing so , since I'm using only a few of the many , many apps .

💡So you must be a professor (.edu ) , I figured that you were some kind of brainiac , which subject ? I'm guessing information science .
I'm optimistically thinking that I'll level up enough to join the cream of the crop Community . There are some noticeably intriguing members in this forum & it would be entertaining as well as educational to chat with them .

Oh, goodness, no! I'm in administration. And I flunked the last computer programming course I took (back in 1981).
