Peek and pop feature is not working in my iPhone

Since few weeks ago, everytime I tried peek and pop feature in my iphone, the sender receive that it's being read. The 3d touch is working, but they seen it as read. It's supposed to just peek and pop, and the mark in my phone is still unread too. Why is this happening and how can I fix this?

Peek:

A read receipt is not sent if you use Peek (via 3D Touch, Haptic Touch, or Long Press) to preview an iMessage without fully opening the conversation.
The sender won’t know you’ve seen the message.

Pop:

When you fully open the iMessage conversation (Pop or otherwise), a read receipt is sent if the Send Read Receipts setting is enabled.

yess, that's why im a bit flabbergasted. I used peek via long press to preview a message in whatsapp without fully opening the conversation, but the sender said, it's marked as read.. And I've cross check this with few of my friends, turned out, we have the same issue..
