Can't use iPhone Mirroring on 2019 27in iMac when running off external disk

I have been dealing with my 2019 27in iMac running unbearably slow for year, so I finally tried booting up from an external (Sandisk) drive. Now the iMac works great! But now when I try to use iPhone Mirroring I get this error:

"iPhone Mirroring requires a Mac with Apple Silicon or a T2 Security Chip."

Is there a work around, setting or issue I can resolve but stay with the external startup drive?

The message means what is says.

No workaround or setting. An Intel Mac without a T2 chip can't use iPhone Mirroring.

I only posted because I thought I was able to do it before I set up the external drive (and therefore thought the drive was the issue.) Now I realize I was mistaken.

No security issues. You are running the latest OS. I have the same Mac as you. I also have an external boot drive that I use on/off for testing as I usually just use my internal SSD.
