From where? If you mean Desktop Widgets you just right/control click on them and choose Delete.
As I mentioned, you can also remove Widgets from the Desktop by right/control clicking on them, and as it turns out, in the Notification Center as well.
Just noticed the Apple support page is incorrect…
"Remove widgets from the desktop
That should be "Control-click the wallpaper".
Just to add, it might say "Remove Widget".
