System Data Stuck On Calculating

Hello everyone,

Ever since I installed macOS Sequoia 15.2 on my 2022 MacBook Air M2, the System Data section under the Storage settings is stuck on calculating and it never shows me the actual space it takes up. I even let it run for multiple hours in the hope of it finally "calculating" the space it takes, but it made no difference and it was still stuck on "Calculating..." after multiple hours. If I recall correctly, this happened after I installed Apple Intelligence on my system, tried out its features for a bit, and realised that I really don't need this running on my system at all so I disabled it. And I think this issue popped out after I installed Apple Intelligence (Also the Apple Intelligence files are still on my drive and are not getting deleted even thought its been weeks, but thats another topic).

Things that I've tried so far

  • Restarting
  • Deleting downloaded music
  • Setting photos library location

I'd be really happy to hear a possible solution to this problem or any suggestions for me to try.

Thanks

MacBook Air

yep..mine never seems to resolve. Forget about it or you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

i would find some alternative —

Try something like OmniDiskSweeper for a GUI to get a good look at itemized file size and location:
