dozens of folders created on Iphone 16 pro

I take a lot of photos with my iPhone 14 pro. In internal storage, there are dozens of folders with names like, 202301_, 202312_a, 202312_b, etc... I can copy the photos to my p.c., but I can't get rid of these folders. And some of the pictures get duplicated on the phone storage in 2 different adjacent folders. It didn't always work like this and my previous iPhones didn't make so many random folders for photos. Why is it doing this, and how can I get rid of all these folders once I empty them of the photos?

I have exactlythe same issue on iphone 16....it is not a problem on my phone, but when i want to save to my hard drive itis a real pain to have to open each folder to then copy and paste into a file. It used to be a problem when i took a lot of pics in one month...but it seems to be getting worse. How can I stop this? For december 2024 it has been split into 28 folders...some with one or 2 pics...some with a lot more
