There are two ways to answer this query. One is that Photos never touches the original fie, all its edits are stored as instructions for displaying the image. So if you crop or otherwise edit an image you can easily revert to the Original. Simply click on the three dots at the top right hand side of the Photos window and you'll see that command there. (Note the command is only visible if you're showing an image that has been edited.
If you want to see both the original and the cropped version then duplicate the image first, and then crop the copy. The Duplicate command is at the same location.
