MacBook Air running macOS 15.2 not verifying or opening downloaded Apps

This software [subject] from DigiTech.com allows me to manage data stored on my Trio+ "band-in-a-box" musical instrument pedal removable micro SD card and transfer it to my MACBook DAW. (PreSonus Studio One v.6 Pro) Malwarebytes VPN is installed, but not on when I try to open the download with the default launcher. iOS15.2 on the MACbook cannot verify the downloaded software and won't open it. I have tried deleting the download, verifying my stable wi-fy connection and attempt to open the refreshed download. iOS still refuses to verify and/or open the app. I need this software on my MACbook! What is the fix for this? Thanks.

That message is the Mac's Gatekeeper protection. It is likely due to that software not being from an identified developer. If you downloaded the software directly from the manufacturer, and you trust that manufacturer, you can bypass the warning and install the software. Instructions online may be incorrect because the steps have recently changed for Sequoia:

  • Open Terminal.app
  • Type the following into the terminal window including a space at the end of the command (but do not hit return yet):

"xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "

  • Drag-and-drop the downloaded app into the terminal window.
  • Hit the return key

Before hitting return, the command should have looked something like this but with your app's path at the end:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /downloads/the-app-name

Then try again to run the app.

I don’t see any available app installation documentation, and the owner’s manual doesn’t list that.

If you have unzipped that download on your macOS 15.2 system and failed to open it, remove all of the added security apps and added anti-malware apps including removing all added VPN apps installed on your macOS system, restart your Mac, and try to open the app again.

Add-on security apps can cause issues, and VPN apps don’t always disentangle themselves when shut off.

If that fails, check with DigiTech Support: https://digitech.com/contact-us/
