Free PDF reader app with Text-to-Speech for Mac

I am beyond frustrated with the APP store recommendations. I just want a fee Mac App that will READ ALOUD PDF files to me. Not one of the downloads was free and those that were did NOT read pdfs aloud to you.

I have downloaded at least 5-8 apps. What about "Free Text to Speech" apps does the App Store not understand? Many of the apps are free downloads but require that you to create a profile with a credit card attached to bill you for using their app. This is does not qualify as a free app.

Does anyone have any recommendations. The Adobe Reader app, which seems to be the most popular does not read the text aloud to you.

Preview App. Go to menu bar Edit/Speech/Start Speaking

Works on my Mac but I obviously don't know the specifics of your needs.

You're mistaking how the App Store works. Years back, you could create an App Store account without a linked credit card. But, you could only download fully free apps.

That's no longer how most items on the App Store work. Nowadays, nearly all have In-App Purchases, or are a one time cost. In-App Purchase items are free to download and use, but since you have the option to make such purchases, a credit card must be available.

If an item says Get, and Get only, then it is a truly free app.

If an item says Get, with In-App Purchases under that, then it's free to download and use, but has purchase items available within the app. You are under no obligation to make any of those purchases. Though with games (in particular), the authors tend to make such apps virtually impossible to win or advance in without making such purchases.

Otherwise, a straight-up, one-time cost app will show the purchase price rather than Get.

I think that Preview is THE great Apple sleeper app that people don't appreciate or even know about. Apart from its occasional disinclination to open very very large files it's a fantastic piece of code. Before the OP I didn't know it could read docs out loud either. I just assumed it would and wasn't surprised when it did. They really don't code them like this Swiss Army app any more.
