Save a Website URL to the Passwords App

Why can't I save to the Passwords app a specific website URL that’s in my clipboard? I want to save the login page URL, not just the primary website address. For example, I’d like to save but the system only allows me to save the root address, “constellationhome.com,” even when I paste the full login page URL. I'm using a MacBook Pro with macOS 15.2.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yep. I have seen others complaining online about that. I believe that subdomains were already an issue back when Keychain was used prior to Passwords, but that doesn't seem to have been addressed when creating Passwords app.

I would suggest submitting official feedback: Product Feedback - Apple

I agree with you, when URLs contain a hostname or subdomain before the TLD, it's very important to many users (not just developers). A great example is for domains with US state or country code TLDs. Those types of URLS frequently contain three of four parts that could commonly contain both a host/server name, a subdomain, and a two part TLD.
